The Welding Institute Council structure

TWI is governed by a Council, on which Industrial Members companies and Professional Members are equally represented. Two boards deal with research and professional activities and report to Council.

The Professional Board is responsible for the regulations governing individual Professional Membership and registration with Engineering Council. It also oversees the work of the Branch Management Committee.

The Research Board determines policy in respect of the Core Research Programme and is responsible for the direction of services available to industrial member companies.

All members of The Welding Institute are encouraged to participate in the activities of the Institute and to contribute voluntarily to the development of the Institute via participation in the Board and Committees, through the Branch Network and by supporting and participating in the events and activities including the educational outreach programme.

The Terms of Reference for each committee are reviewed regularly.
