Joint NDT Condition Monitoring and Offshore Energy Technical Groups Meeting:
Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection in the Offshore Energy Industry
Learn about the latest achievements and developments regarding non-destructive testing and inspection in the offshore energy industry, and the challenges encountered.
This event includes presentations and presenters from an event held in Aberdeen on 21st November 2018, which was popular and well attended. By request the event is being repeated at TWI's headquarters near Cambridge for those in the South and mainland Europe who find this a convenient location.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is used throughout the lifecycle of an offshore installation and this meeting will look at advances in its use from new construction to in-service inspection.
Conventional methods such as ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, eddy current testing and visual inspection have been used for offshore inspection from the early days. In recent years NDT technologies have advanced dramatically aided by developments in sensors and the increase in capabilities in digital capture and signal processing. Remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) routinely undertake subsea visual inspection and the use of drones is becoming common. This meeting is intended to illustrate innovative NDT methods which are available and applied for offshore inspection.
Who should attend
The meeting will have valuable content for inspection personnel, non-destructive testing specialists, materials engineers, welding engineers and project engineers working in the offshore energy industries.
