Kevin Radcliffe BEng GradWeldI
YMC Representative (Northern Irish Branch)
Welding Engineer, Harland & Wolff Heavy Industries Ltd
I joined Harland and Wolff in September 2011 as a trainee welding engineer, responsible for all welding related activities including procedure qualification, welder approval and defect analysis. Harland and Wolff are an Industrial Member of TWI and our projects comprise offshore oil and gas modules, jackets and components; renewable energy foundation structures, modules and jackets; and bridge structures and components.
I am currently project welding engineer for Harland and Wolff on a number of projects.
For these projects, I am the principle welding engineering and technology contact in H&W, mostly dealing with carbon steel of thicknesses ranging from 10-80mm. I have developed numerous WPQR's and WPS's using many different specifications (AWS, ASME, DNV, BS, NORSOK) and also tested and certified hundreds of welders to EN287-1.
I have a degree in Civil Engineering (BEng) from Queens University Belfast and I am a registered interim Incorporated Engineer (IEng-1) awarded by the Engineering Council. I am also a Professional Member of the Welding Institute (GradWeldI).
I am currently enrolled on the IIW/EWF Welding Diploma and have passed all modules up to Technologist level. I will be moving to complete Engineering level in the near future and aim to achieve this in line with applying for CEng and MWeldI status.
