Materials & Welding Engineer, GE Oil & Gas
I joined GE Oil & Gas in May 2012 as a graduate materials and welding engineer, I had also served a successful internship with GE in 2011. As a graduate engineer my initial responsibilities involved short assignments around various departments within the company, such as project engineering, project management and sourcing. Upon completion of these assignments, I became materials and welding engineer on various projects within the subsea production systems business. GE Oil & Gas, manufacture subsea Christmas trees, manifolds, wellheads, risers and intervention equipment.
I am currently the materials and welding for a number of projects within the trees and wellhead’s department, my day to day activities involve reviewing weld procedures, arranging and managing welder qualifications, creating weld procedures and writing material specifications. I have experience in welding super duplex stainless steel, Inconel 625 tubing, carbon and low alloy steels, autogenous welding of austenitic stainless steels and corrosion resistant clad welding. I have familiarity with various industry standards such as API 6A, API 17D, NACE MR 0175, ISO15156, NORSOK M-601, BS 4515, DNV RP-F101, ASME IX and ISO15614-1.
I have a BEng (Hons.) degree in Chemical Engineering from Heriot Watt university, Edinburgh and will graduate from Cranfield University with an MSc in Welding Engineering in September 2014. I am a professional member of the welding institute (GradWeldI) and I am working toward CEng and MWeldI status.
