Welding Engineer, Liberty Steel
I have over 21 years’ experience in submerged arc welding (SAW), pipe manufacturing for the oil and gas industry.
My role as a welder/inspector started in 1996 with British steel using MAG, SAW and MMA processes . After 10 years hands on experience I gained promotion to welding team leader and as part of role I had I completed a number of internal and external training courses, which were focused on lean manufacturing.
In 2012 I was given a further promotion to section manager welding and completed the European / International Welding Specialist diploma, at the welding institute Cambridge. Following the diploma I enrolled and finished a HNC in fabrication and welding at Teesside University via Hartlepool College of Further Education .
In 2014 I was promoted to Welding Engineer Development at Tata Steel SAW pipe mill Hartlepool, and achieved the European / International Welding Technologist welding diploma.
In 2017 I was successful in achieving IEng, which allowed me to complete the European / International Welding Technologist IWE/EWE at TWI Cambridge.
Following this qualification I gained a further promotion, were I am now working as the Welding Engineer for Liberty Pipes Hartlepool.
In addition to my work life I am also involved in martial arts and fitness which drove me to achieve a BSc in sports science with Second Class Honours Division One.
