This is a Member only event, specifically for members of the Sheffield and East Midlands branches. Other members may be able to attend should spaces become available.

Overview: The talk will provide a basic introduction to nickel alloys and their use in the most corrosive environments. A summary of the most popular nickel based filler metals, their chemistry, metallurgy and practical applications will be given covering both joining and weld overlay.

Speaker: Peter Stones IEng MWeldI IWE B.Eng

Speaker Biography: Peter is a graduate engineer with 35 years’ experience in Senior Management roles, working for multi – nationals, medium sized and private companies in aerospace, oil & gas, petrochemicals, nuclear and medical market segments. He was the Global Welding Product Manager with Sandvik for 10 years before the business was bought by ESAB and continues to produce the Sandvik portfolio under the brand name Exaton. Now part of the ESAB Specialty Alloys team responsible for all high alloy stainless, duplex and nickel alloys.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Attending this event supports your professional development.  You can claim 2 CPD points per hour for this event.  As a member of the Welding Institute you can record your CPD activity online from your membership portal.
