This is a Member only event, specifically for members of the Teesside and Northumbria branches. Other members may be able to attend should spaces become available.

Overview: TWI has invented a highly disruptive, new sub-surface machining technique called ‘CoreFlow.’ The solid state process is a development of friction stir welding which allows for sub-surface networks to be integrated into structures.

This revolutionary new technology already has potential uses in heat exchangers and cooling systems as well as for integrated fluid management and light-weighting.

Allowing for a range of applications from anti-icing of aeroplane wings and flight control surfaces to heat reduction, hydraulic lubrication, embedding instrumentation, and more, this new technique can be used in a variety of industries

Speaker: João Gandra MWeldI Interim CEng, Principal Project Leader - Friction and Forge Processes at TWI Ltd

Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Attending this event supports your professional development.  You can claim 2 CPD points per hour for this event.  As a member of the Welding Institute you can record your CPD activity online from your membership portal.
