This is a Member only event, specifically for members of the North Scottish and Highlands and Islands branches. Other members may be able to attend should spaces become available.

Overview: This talk will present the following:

  • Overview of the project Beatrice Windfarm
  • Design of the foundations (formally named WTG support structure)
  • Overview of the serial fabrication (Bladt, Lindo, DK – Smulders – Antwerp, Belgium & Newcastle, UK – Bifab, Scotland) including programme and issues and overview of the fabrication yards
  • Installation

Speaker: Henk de Pater, SSE

Speaker Biography: Henk started his career in the Dutch Army as Power Engineer and Combat Engineer, including UN mission in Bosnia in 1994-1995.  He left the Army in 1995 and continued as E&I technician in the Telecom / (Pet) food industry / server rooms.

In 2002 he started as an E&I Engineer in the oil and gas industry and was involved variety of roles including process, civil, rotating equipment, mechanical and piping engineering before ultimately moving into the offshore wind industry. During this time he also gained a Bachelors degree in Industrial Automation and a Masters degree in Energy Systems.

In 2015 started work as an independent consultant working on the following projects:

  • Engineering Manager and Fabrication Manager for the Veja Mate project
  • Fabrication manager to the Beatrice project
  • Fabrication lead on Seagreen
Today he acts mainly as Sr advisor for the Seagreen project and as Sr advisor for the Hai Long project in Taiwan along with some smaller consultancies such as a South Korean offshore wind farm and is involved in arbitration cases in the Netherlands.
