This talk is primarily for members of the South Western and South Wales branches of The Welding Institute. Other members may be able to attend should spaces become available.

Overview: Covering all current legislation pertaining to the use of commercial gases and the relevant safety training required in order to comply with the safe use of these gases

Speaker: William Roffey (Consultant - Pro-Active Gas Safety)

Speaker Biography: Bill served a four-year apprenticeship at Rosyth and Chatham Naval Dockyards as a Shipyard Welder. Other roles included: Muffle Welder for London Transport; Foreman Welder on the construction of Heathrow Terminal 4 and Welding Instructor for Eutectic Co. Ltd.. He has also spent considerable time working in the Middle East, training welding operatives for the oil industry. After 10 years working abroad, he returned to England and became a lecturer at the College of North West London in the Fabrication & Welding Department. He was promoted to Curriculum Manager for Welding, Fabrication & Mechanical Engineering before taking voluntary redundancy in 2014. Bill now does work for Pro-active gas Safety as a training consultant and a London-based steel fabrication company as their Responsible Welding Coordinator. In addition, he designs and delivers welding courses for a wide range of industries
