Overview: This introductory briefing will give members an overview of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and why it is important for professional growth and development. In this talk we will cover the following topics:

  • Overview of CPD requirements and expectations
  • Guidance on recording your CPD using The Welding Institute’s tools
  • The CPD cycle
  • Examples of activities that can count as acceptable CPD
  • How to use the Engineering Council’s online professional development system mycareerpath®
  • A personal perspective on CPD

Speaker Biography:

Tom joined The Welding Institute in 2017 as a Membership Officer supporting applications for Professional Membership and Engineering Council registration.

Louise joined The Welding Institute in 2019 as a Membership Officer and has taken a key role in supporting and developing CPD.

Cosmin is a Welding Specialist with Lloyds register  and a former Branch Committee member. Now working overseas, Cosmin brings a great deal of personal knowledge and experience of CPD to the discussion.
