This is a London Branch event organised and run by our London Branch for members of the London and Kent Branches.
This is a joint event with the London Materials Society (LMS)
Overview:- The collection of princely arms and armour is one of the jewels of the Wallace Collection. Although some objects were meant for combat, many are beautiful examples of the armourer’s art and were made for rulers and nobles across the world, from Shah Jahan, Mughal emperor, to Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor.
Our host:- Dr Tobia Capwell is Curator of Arms and Armour at the Wallace Collection, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a Freeman of the Armourers Company of London. He is a distinguished author, has curated many special exhibitions on arms and armour at the Collection and is a historical advisor to feature films and television shows.
