Overview: The Webinar; ‘Waveform Controlled GMAW and Synergic systems’ will focus on the mechanism, benefits and limitations of the waveform controlled GMAW process modes and clarify the relationship between process mode control and Synergic systems.
Speaker: John Norrish
Speaker Biography: John Norrish is Emeritus Professor of Welding at the University of Wollongong. He has more than 40 years involvement with welding engineering in industry and academic research. He worked for RowenArc, and BOC in the UK, CIG in Australia and Cranfield University in the UK before taking up the CRC Chair in Welding and Joining at Wollongong University in 1995. He has a special interest in arc welding process control, metal transfer phenomena, welding safety, welding automation and additive manufacturing. He ihas been an active member of TWI since the 1960’s and is a Chartered Engineer, and Fellow of TWI . He is Honorary Fellow of the John has more than two hundred publications in journals and international conferences.
He is also the author of a Book - Advanced Welding Processes, revised and republished by Woodhead Publishing in 2006. International Welding Institute and the American Welding Society.
Although formally retired from UOW in 2012 he became an Emeritus Professor and continues to be involved in research activities of the facility for intelligent fabrication (FIF) at UOW.
