This is an Eastern Counties Branch event organised and hosted by the Branch Committee on behalf of Branch members. Other members and non-members are very welcome to register for the talk.
Overview: In this talk, Dr Chris Worrall will consider the issues and opportunities arising from the end of life of polymer composites.
The Speaker: Dr Chris Worrall (TWI Ltd)
Speaker Biography: Chris is responsible for helping solve some of the problems TWI’s Industrial Members face with exploiting the benefits of composite materials. Starting out with a degree in Metallurgy and Materials science, he quickly became fascinated by composites and the opportunities they provided. He has spent 10 years in Japan working in the transport and renewable energy industries. Before leaving the UK, Chris worked in a research laboratory on the processing of novel thermoplastic composite materials, and developing novel testing methods. For the last 10 years Chris has focussed on joining composites and how developments in joining technology can be adapted to facilitate disassembly, making it easier to reuse and recycle these valuable materials.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Attending this event supports your professional development. You can claim 2 CPD points per hour for this event. As a member of the Welding Institute you can record your CPD activity online from your membership portal.
