North Scottish Branch Technical Talk

This is a joint event organised by our North Scottish Branch and the Institute for Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Members of both organisations and non-members are very welcome to join us.

Overview:- In this talk our speaker will cover the following;

  • Introduction to Human Error and how it typically comes about (considering task and environmental factors with a focus on impairment such as fatigue);
  • General description of Human Reliability Assessment (HRA) with generic examples from projects in pre-commissioning, NDT, etc. covering the following steps; Task Analysis; guidewords used; outputs from HRA and their uses
  • Lessons learned from project case studies (anonymous) reducing predicted error rates for different types of work.  This will include radiography, ultrasonic testing, plus other projects outside of the NDT field.
  • Practical control measures that could be used in the future to reduce error rates
