This is event is organised by our North Scottish Branch for members of the Branch. Non-members are very welcome to join us. Our talk will be preceded by the Branch AGM at 5:30pm followed by our guest speaker at 6pm.
The Branch AGM is your chance to contribute your ideas and feedback to the Branch and Welding Institute as a whole so do please take time to join us.
Overview:- Focussing on how non-metallics are not out to replace traditional materials and skills, but can play a vital role in helping the O&G industry survive in the current energy transition era
Speakers:- Chris Worrall (Consultant, TWI)
Speaker Biography:- Chris joined TWI after a ten year spell in Japan pursuing an aerospace and automotive career. Before leaving the UK he was a Group Leader at Kobe Steel's European Research Laboratory, a position acquired after completing a PhD at Liverpool University and a BSc Eng at Imperial College, London. At Liverpool University, Chris was part of the Marinetech North West project investigating the performance of composites for the offshore industry. At Kobe Steel Europe he was a member of the European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS) and helped develop international standards for measuring the toughness of composite materials.
