Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Talk

This is a TWI Tipper Group talk presented for staff of TWI and members of The Welding Institute. All Members of The Welding Institute and non-members are welcome to join us.

The Tipper Group at TWI is proud to invite you to an inspiring event on Wednesday 10th April 2024 from 9:30am-10:30am, featuring Mark Foster, a former British champion swimmer and a prominent advocate for LGBT+ rights. Mark Foster, renowned for his exceptional achievements in the world of competitive swimming, has been an influential figure in British sports from a young age. His athletic prowess, showcased in numerous international competitions including the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and European Championships, has earned him a place among the swimming elite.

However, Foster's influence extends far beyond the pool. His openness about his sexuality and active involvement in LGBT+ charities have made him a significant figure in the advocacy for LGBT+ rights. He uses his platform to promote inclusivity and diversity, embodying the values that the Tipper Group at TWI holds dear.

The Tipper Group, an employee-run body within TWI, is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within our organisation. Our efforts focus on creating an environment where everyone, regardless of their background, feels welcomed and valued. Hosting an event with Mark Foster, especially during LGBT+ month in February, aligns perfectly with the group's mission to foster a culture of acceptance and understanding.

This event is more than just a talk; it's a celebration of diversity and a testament to TWI's commitment to creating an inclusive workplace. Foster's life story and his journey as an athlete and an LGBT+ advocate will provide invaluable insights into the importance of embracing diversity in all its forms. His experiences, both in the sporting world and as a media personality, highlight the significance of perseverance, resilience, and the courage to be true to oneself.
