Use of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing to Locate and Characterise a Critical Defect in Duplex Stainless Steel Pipework

The Welding Institute London Branch invite you to their May Technical Presentation:

What will the event cover?

This talk shares a real-world case study of NDT validation used to restore confidence and return an offshore production asset to service. Following discovery of a through-wall leak on a 1-inch OD, 4.5 mm wall duplex stainless-steel small-bore connection, multiple inspection attempts (PT, MT, tangential radiography and an eddy current trial) failed to reliably locate or characterise the defect. With the riser offline and wider concerns emerging around vibration-induced fatigue across similar connections, the asset faced escalating risk and uncertainty.
