    NOBLE NIOBIUM

What will the event cover?/What will you learn?

Niobium is an element of great importance in the modern world, and this presentation looks at its history, occurrence and extraction processes. The majority of the extracted niobium is used as an alloying addition to structural, stainless and special steels and in superalloys as a grain refiner.

Industry expert will be presenting on:

The presentation will discuss its properties and its many other uses in the chemical, electronic, lighting, coinage and jewellery industries as well as the welding techniques required to fabricate the metal. Recycling possibilities are discussed along with health and safety issues in handling and fabricating the material.

    What will you learn?

Traditional NDT methods are used to inspect defined areas at specific  times where flaws are considered to be likely. Condition Monitoring, on the other hand, is used to detect changes in the condition of larger areas of plant and equipment over time.

    Attendees will:

    - Gain an appreciation of the range of methods used for CM

    - Understand how this is incorporated into asset management strategies

    - Be provided with examples of the application of a variety of CM methods to monitor plant and equipment in service.

    Who should join?

This webinar is designed for engineers responsible for the efficient and safe operation of plant and constructions during operation, and for maintenance and inspection planning.

    Presentations

    Thermography In Standard Condition Monitoring
    David Manning-Ohren, CM Manager, ERIKS

Using Acoustic Emission to Monitor Hydrogen Induced Cracking in Energy Pipelines

    Dandan Liu, Engineer, TWI

Condition Monitoring / Vibration Analysis with Case Studies

Andrew Loder, Reliability Engineer, Reliability Maintenance Solutions Ltd

Industrial Mechanical Resonance and Design Solutions

Simon Hirst, Asset Integrity Division Manager, AVT Reliability Ltd

      Metallurgy and Cracking Mechanisms

      What will the event cover?

Metallurgy and Cracking Mechanisms.  There are many reasons cracking in welded assemblies.  For carbon steels, these can be grouped into the metallurgical reasons, mechanical reasons, and human factors.

      What will you learn?

This presentation considers 6 of the metallurgical reasons for cracking in carbon and low alloy steels which may occur as a result of fabrication, and one with metallurgical susceptibility associated with service cracking.  These metallurgical reasons can be understood and mitigated for at various stages if production and life, and are of relevance as they lead yo costly repairs and rework, or catastrophic failure if left unchecked.  After the presentation you will be aware of some of the reasons for the cracking, and how to avoid such cracking at fabrication or during service.

      What will you learn?

Collaborative Reporting for Safer Structures UK (CROSS-UK) is a confidential reporting system which allows professionals working in the built environment to report on fire and structural safety issues. They provide reports, case-histories and information on fire safety or structural safety issues on concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures. The reporting is published anonymously to facilitate the sharing of lessons learned, create positive change, and improve safety.

This webinar will provide attendees with an insight into the vital safety role that CROSS plays in the built environment. You will discover the benefits of signing up to the email reports and alerts and will learn how to contribute to this industry wide safety resource.

      Who should join?

This webinar is designed for engineers, inspectors, managers, supervisors, and designers working/associated with the built environment industry.
