What’s the Plan for the Day?

We’re excited to announce the agenda for our Annual Members Day on 13 October! Check out the full agenda here!

As part of an exciting day on Building Tomorrow’s Capability, we have an incredible lineup of industry speakers, including:

  • UK Capability Needs and Why TWI Should Lead the Way - Paul Woollin, TWI

  • Unlocking Our Potential - Martyn Fletcher

  • Intelligent Automation Solutions - Mike Russel, KUKA

  • From Research to Industrial Impact: How Collaborative R&D Strengthens UK Capability – Malcom Lee, TWI

  • Building Stronger Pathways into Industry – Jeff Baker, Enginuity

To close out the morning, all speakers will reconvene to answer Members’ questions on all the topics covered with a panel discussion and Q&A session just before lunch.

Award Ceremony

After the morning’s presentations, an awards ceremony will celebrate the contributions and achievements across the welding and joining community, recognising those whose commitment, knowledge and skill continuously platform the industry throughout their respective sector.

Workshops

Our new workshops will tackle crucial and current issues within industry, helping to form the basis of future working groups designed to continue the conversation beyond Members’ Day and bring ideas to life to strengthen and improve membership. These groups will create tangible recommendations and continue to develop ideas over the following 12 months.

Mel Stewart fromAdMel Ltd, will explore with members on how to attract and support those who would not have traditionally considered a career in welding, fabrication or engineering with her workshop Broadening Access to Welding and Engineering Careers.

TWI’s Director of Training and Skills, Jason Gregory’s workshop 'What Should CPD Look Like for Members?’ will provide members with a practical way to shape TWI’s future CPD offer. Instead of simply asking which courses they wish to have, the discussions will be catered to what members hope to achieve in their careers and how TWI could aid in helping them reach there.

TWI’s Chief Technology and Quality Assurance Officer, Paul Woollin will discuss with members how to keep people in the profession and helping them progress throughout their careers, focusing on; what members value today, what they need from the Institute in the future and the top priorities members believe the Institute should invest in with their invite-only workshop Strategic Member Advisory Group.

All these workshops will foster an environment for members to voice their ideas, concerns and future hopes for membership and The Welding Institute.

Exhibitors

We will have a wide range of exhibitors on The Street, showcasing their companies for all Members to explore.Take advantage of the day’s breaks to discover all our different exhibitors, providing a casual space to explore the latest in welding, joining and allied technologies whilst also giving you the opportunity to network with fellow attendees and the exhibitors.

Together, the event will provide a platform for shaping how industry, education and professional institutions can work collectively to build the workforce and capabilities needed for the future.

We’re excited to welcome you on 13 October at TWI Cambridge!
